Brooklyn Bean Oh Fudge! Single Serve Cup Review

ohfudgeBrewing these Single Cups resulted in strong lingering aromas of sweet chocolate & cocoa which reminded us, oddly enough, of Cocoa Puffs cereal. No idea why that’s the first thing which came to mind, but that’s all we could think of. You definitely get cocoa aromas blended with some sweet milk chocolate notes throughout. If anything, the aroma was spot-on and it lingered around the room for a long time afterwards. So far, this one wins the aroma award as the strongest scent in BBR’s line-up & it was so enjoyable we couldn’t wait to dig in and see what awaited us in the final cup.

Flavor was thankfully just as rich as the aroma. Things kick off with a generous punch of cocoa and dark chocolate flavors which morph mid-way to reveal some of the underlying smoky notes from the coffee itself and then finish off with sweet milk chocolate notes in the end. There’s definitely no doubt whatsoever that you’re drinking a chocolate flavored coffee and for a Single Cup, we have to admit we were rather impressed with the results. Strong aromas of sweet chocolate & cocoa quickly fill the room and seem to linger around forever. BBR might as well start marketing these Single Cups as aromatherapy diffusers.

  • Acidity – 10 – A nicely executed balance which only reveals itself when you let the flavors linger on your tongue or if you wait until the end of each sip. A very mild sour note is present but it doesn’t interfere with the main chocolate flavors at all.
  • Body – 9 – Vibrant shades of red & orange mix with tinges of yellow when held in front of a light source. Doesn’t really match with the namesake but the default color of the main coffee obviously does.
  • Flavor – 10 – A rich blend of strong cocoa & dark chocolate notes which morph mid-way to reveal some hidden smoky notes buried underneath. Things finish off with sweet milk chocolate notes near the end.
  • Mouth Feel – 10 – Smooth overall with a very light syrupy feel which prevented things from becoming too watered down. Finish was a mix of sweet & sour followed by more chocolate notes in the aftertaste.
  • Coffee Drinker – While it’s not as sweet as some mocha-inspired coffees we’ve tried in the past, we think this is best suited for those who want a rich chocolate flavored coffee which can go well on its own during an afternoon break or which pairs well with similar chocolate-based desserts
